If you are traveling with Apple Vacations or Funjet Vacations and headed to the Caribbean or Mexico follow these simple departure and arrival directions and you will be on the beach in no time with sand between your toes and a drink in your hand!
AT YOUR DEPARTURE AIRPORT
Before heading to the airport make sure you have all your important travel documents with you including a VALID PASSPORT. Check when your passport expires when you are booking your vacation. Nothing is more disappointing than realizing your passport is expired when you arrive at the airport! Also, plan to arrive 2-3 hours prior to departure. Try to check in online before you arrive. This makes the whole procedure a tad faster once you arrive at the airport terminal. Weigh your luggage at home, so you avoid unpacking and repacking suitcases that are too heavy. After checking in with your airline, on the way to the security check point, stow everything except your ID and boarding pass in your carry-on bag. This way, when you get ready to go through the scanner, you are not finding stuff in random pants pockets, messing with your phone, dropping credit cards or keys and holding up the line.
WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT YOUR DESTINATION AIRPORT
Once you deplane you will be led to immigration, then guided to the baggage claim. After getting your bags you will go through customs. Follow the signs and proceed toward the exit. Go all the way outside the airport terminal. Beware of timeshare reps trying to have you stop for them! Just keep walking! Once you are outside you will find the AMSTAR representatives. AMSTAR is the company that Apple Vacations and Funjet Vacations contracts to handle all transportation, tours and hotel hosting at your destination. Make sure to look for them in the blue floral shirts pictured below. Your AMSTAR representative will put you on your shuttle that will take you to the resort.
WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT THE RESORT
An AMSTAR rep will be at the resort to help you book any optional tours or help you with any questions or concerns. They have posted office hours and are generally at the resort every day. Stop in to see them the first or second day of your trip so they can advise what you need to do in order to get your shuttle for the return back to the airport at the end of your vacation. In most cases your AMSTAR reps or hotel concierge can assist with anything that might arise.
MEXICAN IMMIGRATION FORMS
If you are traveling to Mexico with small children, or a big group you might consider going online and filling out the Mexican Immigration forms ahead of time. They do give you the forms on the plane on the way to your destination. But as a convenience they also give you the option to fill them out online, and print them out -- all ready to take with you and be stamped by the Immigration Official.
